week of November 12-16

It is good to be back home in the U.S. I apologize for not posting blogs/videos while in Russia. I have a lot of pictures and videos that I will soon be posting. The combination of slow internet connection and slow computers I had access to in Russia made it nearly impossible to upload anything.

I offer a very big thank you to everyone for taking such good care of the dojo while we were away. I was very impressed with the how clean the dojo was when I got back. Awesome job! All dojo members should make the effort to keep it up. If you take any pride in your dojo, it is easy to take care of something as needed rather than waiting for someone else to get it.

Our kids' classes missed a few days due to a flu outbreak that shut down a couple of elementary schools in our area. Closing our classes for a couple of days was intended to help keep our students healthy and happy. Now they can approach this week with new enthusiasm.

This week's curriculum is a repeat of a few weeks ago. We will be going over some basics with emphasis on ironing out the details. Remember, when fancy stuff fails, we go back to the basics that work. Jigoro Kano practiced Osoto-gari and Ogoshi into his final days.

Inside Dynamic MMA--Sept 17-21

You may  have noticed the Advocare display at the entrance of the dojo. Please feel free to fill out the survey and browse through some of the information on the table. If you have additional questions, ask one of the instructors.

Over the next couple of weeks Judo, Jiu-jitsu, and MMA classes will concentrate on strategies to prepare for the Oregon Open Gi and No-Gi tournament scheduled for the 29th. Come to class prepared to drill positions and submissions as well as get in some rounds of grappling.

The Keith family will be leaving for Russia on September 27th. We will be away for five weeks. While we are away, Ryan Cunningham, Jessee Filan, and Tony Pepe will be in charge of dojo operations. We will also be in contact with the dojo staff members on a daily basis.

I will be training with some of Russia's finest Judo, Sambo, MMA, and Muay Thai practitioners while there. I will also post periodic blogs and videos of our visit to Russia, so please continue to check and follow this blog.

week of aug 19-24

**Judo Olympian Rick Hawn's Seminar is September 2nd. Be sure to register asap as space is filling up quickly.

Congratulations to Kayla Harrison for becoming the first American to win Gold in the Olympics for Judo. It is a shame that hardly any Judo was shown on TV during the Olympic Games. Judo was the 3rd most represented sport in this year's games. Maybe now that the U.S. has finally won gold, it will get the coverage it deserves.

Thank you to everyone that helped out with the Dynamic MMA booth at the Douglas County Fair. Our dojo has been built on the power of volunteers and its continued growth depends on you.

This week in the dojo

Back to basics this week. We have many new students that need to learn these basic movements as well as everyone else needing review.
