DFCC has clean sweep and title win August 13th

Our fight team has been very focused lately. Instead of being discouraged from the cancellation of the China trip, our fighters turned their focus and training onto things a little more local. The training that they have been putting themselves through paid off on August 13th.

Ian King made his amateur MMA debut with a quick armbar victory over Christian Resendez.

Jessee Filan improved his professional record to 1-1 with a triangle choke win over Jake Thomas early in round 1.

Mike Frear fought a 5 round battle against Chris Calabrese to win via unanimous decision. Mike is now the 155lb title holder for the Knucklehead Fight Promotion.

Congratulations to all of our DFCC fight team members for the wins and to their training partners for helping make it happen.

Below are attached videos of their fights and a couple of interviews.

This week at Dynamic MMA: August 1-5

Douglas County Fair week is next week. We will have a booth at the fair again this year. We need several people to help out running the booth. At the booth we offer information about our classes and give kids a chance to break a pine board, earning a two week pass to our dojo. If anyone would like to volunteer, please let us know asap.

Inside the dojo this week:

Mixed Martial Arts--

Monday-Thursday--

Bring your wrestling singlets (just kidding). We'll be working some more wrestling techniques with a bit of emphasis on Russian style. We'll also be doing some strength and conditioning so, bring your sweat towels (not kidding).

Tuesday-Friday--

Bring your boxing gloves, shin pads, and mouthpieces. We'll be working some counter striking drills mixed with takedowns.

Kodokan Judo--

Monday-Thursday--

We'll be working some throws that make use of belt gripping.

Tuesday-Friday--

Seoi-nage in combination with several follow up throws. Fun stuff.

Jiu-jitsu

Monday-Thursday--

Several attacks from the S-mount position. The S-mount can be very versatile and powerful attack position if you educate yourself on it.

Tuesday-Friday--

Escapes from pinning and/or controlling positions. Learning bottom escapes also helps your top game in that you will become better able to predict your opponent's options.

Muay Thai--

We'll go over some Muay Thai traditions/etiquette. We'll also be working the clinch game a bit and sparring.

All in all, it looks like a pretty fun week. See you at the dojo!

This week at Dynamic MMA: July 25-29

The rumors are true...we are expanding into the unit next door (previously Builder Bob's). This will give us an additional 1200 square feet of space. We will be using the space for Muay Thai and Jiu-jitsu classes. The move will not happen right away as it will take time to paint and put the room together to best serve our needs. An additional bonus to this expansion is more parking room.

Parents, please beware that traffic may increase through the driveway at our front entrance due to the opening of the new Sunrise thrift shop in the former Umpqua Video building. Please make sure that kids do not go in and out of the dojo front door and please supervise them closely when going to and from your vehicles.

Well, here is what we have planned for this week at the dojo.
